WHY AGADIR

WHY AGADIR IS PERFECT FOR LEARNING TO SURF

  • Gentle beach breaks: Anza, Devil’s Rock, Crocodile Beach and Agadir beach have soft, forgiving waves over sand.
  • Waves every day, all year: there is almost always a beginner-friendly spot working, so you never lose a day.
  • Sunshine and mild water: around 300 sunny days a year and water between 17 °C and 22 °C.
  • Local coaches: people who grew up on this coast and know which beach works with which swell, wind and tide.

At Waves Hunter Surf House in Anza we surf every day, and beginners are a big part of our surf family. See where we go on our surf page.

THE LESSON

WHAT A BEGINNER SURF LESSON LOOKS LIKE

  1. Warm-up and theory on the beach – the parts of the board, how waves break, currents and safety.
  2. Pop-up practice on the sand – the movement from lying to standing, repeated until it feels natural.
  3. In the water with your coach – in waist-deep water, your coach helps you choose and catch waves.
  4. Feedback – tips after every wave, plus video analysis so you can see yourself surf.

A session lasts about 2 hours, usually in the morning. Board and wetsuit are included in our Surf Camp.

PACK SMART

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR SURF LESSONS

  • Swimwear to wear under the wetsuit
  • High-factor sunscreen (SPF 50) and lip protection
  • A towel, a water bottle and a hat or cap for the beach
  • Flip-flops and sunglasses
  • A good mood – everything else (board, wetsuit, transport) is provided

STAY SAFE

SAFETY AND SURF ETIQUETTE FOR BEGINNERS

  • Listen to your coach – they know the currents and where it is safe to surf.
  • Stay in the beginner zone and keep a safe distance from other surfers.
  • Keep control of your board – never throw it away when a wave comes; turn and protect your head.
  • Don’t drop in: the surfer closest to the breaking part of the wave has priority.
  • Know your limits – rest when you are tired; there is always another session tomorrow.
